“Alex D.: An Outsider’s Perspective” (click my name above to read more!)

Alex D. is your typical atypical-Portland-gal.  She lives in a house that is over 100 years old, and she bakes chocolate zucchini bread like a bad mamma-jamma.  One of her national pastimes is sipping Captain Americas, also know as Italianos or short Americano’s for those non-espresso fanatics out there.  In fact, if you ever needed to find her, just look for the closest Stumptown Coffee…near SW 3rd Ave and SW Pine.  To her fiancé’s envy (the one writing this), she earns free espresso status faster than a jack rabbit chasing an ostrich!

In her leisure time, you can find her reading Harry Potter, watching Harry Potter, reading Outlander, or watching Outlander (get this gal to the British Isles already!).  You might also find her hiking the Columbia River Gorge, Oregon Coast, a volcano, or some other cool feature in the Pacific Northwest.  When the wild Alexi is in nature, she has found her element.  Speaking of nature, she’s obsessed with it, slowly and steadily soaking up all that she can to enjoy every aspect of the outdoors (just like Bridesmaid Kara Huening) with all of her senses…she will literally smell trees (something she shares in common with Bridesmaid Jessica Walton!).  Her favorite ones to sniff are the ones that smell like butterscotch.  Who doesn’t like butterscotch?!  She’ll also point out every succulent along the way (it’s actually a really cool feature, you’d be surprised how many succulents the average person overlooks).

Alex’s life has been artfully intertwined with the love of the ocean.  If it were a painting, only bridesmaid Ariana Jokers is talented enough to weave the complex strokes of the tumultuous curves and calming lines.  The first time Alex laid eyes on the ocean, tears of terror swelled greater than the ocean wave!  Now, she looks at the ocean and it’s one of the most calming elements for her; after all, nothing—and I mean nothing—is as calming as studying whale scat, a Jurassic Park-like field technique that Alex developed a recent admiration for when she learned a local Pac NW marine scientist was doing just that!  (Uh, you’re going to wash your hands, right?)  Unfortunately whale scat has never made it into a painting, and that could render this entire analogy as worthless; however, Bridesmaid Julie Dirnbieck can attest that Alex is known for painting outside the lines and will make life what she wants it to be.

Did I mention that Alex D. also likes to read and watch both Harry Potter and Outlander?  Alex would love to travel to Scotland and get closer to the real land of Hogwarts and Scottish accents.  Her fiancé would enjoy that too as he’d be able to study Hadrian’s Wall and a number of Roman encampments; however, this isn’t about him; it’s about her.  Traveling is Alex’s other national pastime which is why we’re getting married in Italy! “To see a world in a grain of sand and heaven in a wild flower, [1] ” speaks volumes of her outlook on life; in short, she makes the most out of everything.

On a rainy day, you’ll find Alex reading Harry Potter and/or Outlander or watching them…just in case you missed that earlier.  You also may find her watching, listening, or reading an item from Tina Fey…she’s quick to recommend Bossy Pants.  She also likes Parks & Rec, especially the character who plays that Space Avenger…Starlord!

Alex comes jam packed with a lot of awesome attributes.  She’s fun, intelligent, honest, and loyal.  The all time best feature is her tolerance of Alex A. (what a lucky guy)…but it’s a two-way street as another one of her attributes is wearing his clothing, much to his chagrin.  Physical fitness is also important to her.  She frequents Honest studio, takes her vitamins regularly, drinks her vinegar (yes, seriously, vinegar…it’s gross), and eats her 6 cups of greens per day!  But for real, don’t mess with her, because outside of gamma rays, that sounds like a combination that will turn her into the She-Hulk when she gets angry!  Don’t let that healthy façade fool you though, give her an iced sugar cookie from Carpe Diem with her partners in crime, Bridesmaid Becca Scheider and Matron of Honor Dani Leonard, and you’ll notice that 8 of those sweet rounds have been guzzled down before you can say, “Sweet Swizzle Sticks!”
